The Chair of the Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF), Mr. Steve Chand, hosted a lunch meeting today with the Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, and the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations (MEPIR), Hon. Agni Deo Singh.
The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss key issues surrounding Aged Care Training and potential employment pathways. Mr. Chand outlined the efforts and initiatives being led by the HECF to address these challenges.
In response, Hon. Agni Deo Singh expressed appreciation for the approach taken by the HECF and reaffirmed that the Ministry of Employment stands ready to support their initiatives moving forward.
Hon. Aseri Radrodro commended the HECF for its commitment to tackling these issues. He further encouraged the HECF to prioritize gathering clear data on graduate outcomes from universities, which would help ensure effective planning and development in the sector.
Mr. Chand expressed his gratitude to both Ministers for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the meeting and for offering invaluable, in-depth advice.
Looking ahead, the HECF will host another special meeting with providers delivering aged-care courses, with both Ministers once again in attendance.
