Empowering Future Pathways: HECF and Ministry of Education Career Expo in the Lau Group

The Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF) joined the Ministry of Education and other exhibitors to conduct a career expo for students in the Lau Group.

The expo aimed to expand educational and career opportunities for young people in Fiji’s maritime regions, focusing on students from Moce, Moala, Lakeba, Cicia, and Vanuabalavu islands.

During the visit, the team engaged with students from five high schools and fourteen primary schools across these islands.

This initiative provided guidance and resources to help students explore pathways in higher education and potential careers, especially tailored to meet the needs of students in Fiji’s remote areas.

Fiji’s Education Delegation Explores Collaborative Opportunities in New Zealand to Strengthen Higher Education and Student Exchange Programs

The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, recently visited New Zealand on an official mission. He was joined by Mr. Steve Chand, Chair of the Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF); Mr. Hasmukh Lal, CEO of the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS); and Mr.Napolioni Locoloco, Divisional Education Officer (Western). His Excellency, Rt. Inoke Kubuabola, Fiji’s Ambassador to New Zealand, hosted the delegation.

As part of their visit, the team engaged with several prominent educational institutions, including Victoria University, Massey High School, and other organizations. The key purpose of this visit was to identify avenues for collaboration in higher education, student exchange programs, and initiatives to build capacity within Fiji’s education system.

Through these meetings, the delegation aimed to forge partnerships that would enhance the quality and accessibility of education in Fiji by leveraging shared expertise and institutional support.
